May TBR

Hey guys! I’m sitting here right now completely procrastinating anything and everything I’m supposed to be doing, so that I can bring you my  late April/May TBR. This list is very tentative because I know I won’t finish everything on here, therefore I’m doing it in priority order.

1.  The remainder of the Harry Potter series (That means Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-blood prince, and Deathly Hollows) Honestly if I can just make it through this all month I will be Impressed. Also let me know if you want me to review the series as a whole

2. A court of thorns and roses. By the time I finished with the Throne of glass series the release date for A Court of Mist and Fury was already out so I decided to wait. Now is the time to read it

3. Just listen. I already know I’m going to be in a mourning period after Harry Potter so I figured I better throw this in here to try and avoid a slump.

4. Six of Crows. I was really hesitant to put this on here because I know I’ll have to be in a certain mood to enjoys this book if I don’t want another Raven Boys disaster. This one is a maybe.

5. P.S. I still love you. This is another maybe, only because I don’t know if I’ll have the time to re-read the 1st one which I will need to because I don’t remember anything that happened (except that I love Peter and Kitty).

That’s my TBR for next month even though I know I won’t get it all done. What’s on your TBR for May?

Hope xx

Zombie apocalypse book tag

Hey guys! I wanted to do the Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag today so that’s what’s happening. I will try my best to explain the rules but you will probably want to go watch this video if you really want to understand what’s happening.

The Rules

  3. Take your first book and open to a random page
  4. Find the first character’s name you see (they are now on your zombie survival team)  and answer the 1st question.
  5. Do the same using the same book and answer the 2nd question
  6. Repeat with the rest of the books (for book 2 do questions 3 and 4 etc)

disclaimer: all pictures of characters used are my interpretation

Harry Potter Spells Book Tag

Hey guys! In honour of the fact that i finished the chamber of secrets last night I decided to do the Harry Potter Spell tag. Technically I wasn’t actually tagged but that’s beside the point. So without further ado:

1. Expecto Patronum

{A childhood book connected to good memories}

The first thing that popped into my mind when I read this question was Time For Bed, mainly because I basically made my mom read it every night (shout out to moms)

2. Expelliarmus

{A book that took you by surprise}

Please don’t be fooled by these terrible terrible covers! I picked up Obsidian because I had heard good things about it but I wanted to see for myself. I won’t lie and say I didn’t judge these books as soon as I saw them, but as soon as I started to read I couldn’t stop. I was so surprised at how much I loved this series.

3. Prior Incantato

{The last book you read}

As I said I just finished Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets which is why I’m making this post.

4. Alohamora

{A book that introduced you to a genre you had not considered before}

I chose Anna and the French Kiss not because I had never read contemporaries before, but because it really broadened my horizons. I almost never read super light hearted romantic novels before this one because I didn’t think they were my taste, this book definitely changed my mind.

5. Riddikulus

{A funny book you have read}

One of the only books I can vividly remember constantly laughing out loud at it is The Lightning Thief (and the rest of the series). This book honestly has it all. (honourable mention to To all the boys I’ve loved before because any time Kitty spoke I was in stitches).

6. Sonorus

{A book you think everybody should know about}

REBOOT! This is absolutely one of my favourite books.  It’s been getting quite a bit of hype lately and I’m so here for it. If you haven’t read this yet you 1000% have to. It’s better to go in knowing nothing about it so I’m not going to say anything else.

7. Obliviate

{A book or spoiler you would like to forget having read}

The spoiler from we were liars. you know, THE spoiler.

8. Imperio

{A book you had to read for school}

Leonardo’s shadow is the book the education system is currently shoving down my throat. I’m not a huge fan of historical fiction so I knew going in this wasn’t going to be my cup of tea. Every time I turn a page of this book a little part of me dies inside. You don’t understand how much I truly despise this book. 11/10 experts recommend never ever reading this.

9. Crucio

{A book that was painful to read}

The selection series. Don’t get me wrong I liked these books but America’s indecisiveness made me want to cry throughout the series. (also let’s not even talk about how much I hate Aspen).

10. Avada Kedavra

{A book that could kill (interpret as you will)}

I chose the Throne of Glass series because I would kill to be friends with all the characters 🙂

That’s all for this tag! Tell me your answers below if you’d like

Love you lots

Hope xx

A lengthy separation…

Hello everybody!! long time no see! if I’m being honest I completely forgot the password for this blog and was way too lazy to try and think of it. Alas I have remembered and have decided to get back into things. I’m a bit rusty though so bare with me. I think i might also start up my bookstagram account again (@areadingwonderland) if you want to go check that out.

Thanks for reading

Mean Girls Book Tag

Hey guys! Today I was going post a review for The Summer I Turned Pretty (which I absolutely loved by the way) but I was totally uninspired, so I decided to do the Mean Girls Book Tag (yes… another tag *sigh*)  because I figure it a good way for you guys to get to know me. I have no smooth transition so lets just get started.

1.  “It’s pronounced like Cady” – Which fictional character’s names did you get completely wrong?

It’s hard to narrow this down to just one, but the one that sticks out the most in my mind is Tobias from Divergent. When the movie came out I was shocked to find out it was actually pronounced Toh-bye-uhs. I always thought it was Toe-be-us.

2. “She doesn’t even go here!” – Which character would you like to place in a fictional world from another book or series?

I would give anything to have Will Herondale in literally any cheesy contemporary. But not as a main character, just some guy who has no idea what’s going on and keeps making sarcastic comments. Cassandra Clare can we please make this happen.

3. “On Wednesdays we wear pink!” – Repetition. Repetition. Which book gave you dejavu of another book whilst reading it?

I spent way to long trying to think of something, and still I could only come up with the most obvious choice. I suppose I have to go with Divergent and the similarities it had to The Hunger Games (I’m so unoriginal) sorry!

  untitled  un1titled

4. “You all have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it okay for guys to call you sluts and whores.” – Which book gave you the complete opposite of girl power feels?

For this on I have to pick The Selection series. This concept of the selection is literally to treat girls like they’re objects in a game. Now that I think about it this book gave me some serious THG dejavu with the castes and being picked for the ‘games’. But going back to the question this book was anti-feminism at it’s finest (I still loved it though…oops).

5. “You go Glen Coco!” – Name a character you felt like you wanted to cheer on whilst reading.

Day from legend immediately popped into my head for this one. That kid went through some tough crap and I just wanted him to be happy.

6. “Get in loser, we’re going shopping!” How long do you typically spend at a book shop?

I don’t have a typical amount of time I spend in a book store. That can range between 10 minutes and 2ish hours. It totally depends on my mood, what I’m looking for, if there are pretty displays (yes I’m one of those people) and so much more.

10507293  Legend_Marie_Lu_Book_cover  heyuntitled

7. “It’s not my fault you’re like in love with me or something!” – Which character would have to get out a restraining order on you, if they were real?

One??? More like all of them. To name a few: Finnick O’dair (THG), Percy Jackson (PJO), Conrad Fisher (TSITP), and Daemon Black (LUX)

lightning-thief1  5821978  19081403

8. “I can’t help it that I’m popular.” – Which overhyped book were you cautious about reading?
 Probably To All The Boys I’ve loved before. I did end up liking the book but personally it didn’t live up to the hype.
9. “She’s a life ruiner. She ruins peoples lives.” – We all love Regina George. Name a villain you just love to hate.

This isn’t technically one person but I think I have to go with any ‘villain’ that Rick Riordan writes.

10. “I’m not like a regular Mom, I’m a cool Mom.” – Your favourite fictional parents.

The Garretts from My Life Next Door are hysterical. Plus they raised Jase so they must be pretty cool.

15749186  untitledfsgadrysetr  untitlecsgd

11.  “That is so Fetch!” – Which book or series would you love to catch on?

Reboot by Amy Tintera. I know this book is fairly popular but I think everyone should read it.

12. “How do I even begin to explain Regina George?” – Describe your ideal character to read about.

I don’t really have an ideal character. I just like characters that are unique.

13. “I just have a lot of feelings.” – What do you do when a book gives you a bad case of ‘the feels’?

Cry.

14.  “Nice wig Janice, what’s it made of?” “Your Mom’s chest hair!” – Which characters one liners would you love to claim for your own?

Literally anything that Daemon Black (Lux) says. One of my favourites is “Me and Katy look adorkable in extraterrestrial highway shirts. You would just look stupid. You can thank me later.” It isn’t technically a one liner or answer the question as I wouldn’t want it to me mine, but it made me grin when I read it so I’m counting it.

15. “Boo, you whore.” – Name a time a characters decision has made you roll your eyes

Any time Percy Jackson does anything. ever.

Thanks for reading

img_1384-0

Hey guys! So this week I decided that I would join in on www Wednesday hosted by Taking On A World Of Words. I’ve mentioned that I’ve been really into contemporaries lately so if that’s not your taste feel free to click away. With that being said lets start!

What are you currently reading? Right now I’m reading This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith. I’m super close to finishing this one however it’s taken me a while to get through. It’s not a bad book but honestly nothing happens. The whole time it feels like you’re building up to the climax, but you never get there. Maybe it happens near the very end (I have about 25 pages left) but even if it does I think I’ll be disappointed. I can already tell that this book isn’t going to have a ending where everything is resolved. I know that happens a lot with standalones but honestly so much still has to happen that I know I’m not going to be happy with the ending. My least favourite thing about this was that it didn’t have any specific meaning. It didn’t make you think, it wasn’t particularly fluffy. I honestly think that this is an “I’m in between books” read. I am however exited to finish it and cross another book off my TBR pile.

What did you recently finish reading?  I just finished reading The Heartbreakers by Ali Novak. I picked this up because I had just finished My Life With The Walter Boys, her debut novel and I loved it (I’m so exited for the sequel *happy squeal*). I enjoyed this book! At times Stella’s stubbornness was a bit annoying but I grew to love her character. What made this book for me were the heartbreakers. I fell in love with each guy in the band. They provided comic relief when it was needed and were just all around goofballs. I expected this book to be super fluffy and don’t get me wrong it was, but it also made me think at some points and I was pleasantly surprised by that. Insta-love isn’t my thing so that kind of annoyed me but I ended up loving Stella and Oliver. The ending of this book left me with such a warm feeling (I absolutely loved the epilogue) that the points in it that I wasn’t so fond of were mostly forgotten. One of my biggest complaints with this book was the cover (I know, I know I’m one of those people). I’m usually not a fan of covers with people on them, this book being no exception. I’m not sure if anyone agrees but that was not Oliver and Stella at all. The cover looked like it was meant for a much younger audience. Overall I rate this book 3/5 stars.

IMG_0459What do you think you’ll read next? I plan on reading The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han next if I can get my hands on it. I’ve heard such great things about the series and I’m really exited to read them.

Thanks for reading

Taylor Swift booktag

Hey guys! So I thought to start my first official post here I would do something simple. With that being said lets start.

1. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together pick a book or series that you were pretty sure you were in love with, but then wanted to break up with.

So for this one I have to go with the Legend series by Marie Lu. Don’t get me wrong I loved the first book and some of the second one. After that I found some of it a bit painful to get through. by the end I just felt like it wasn’t worth it (don’t hate me!). I know I’m in the minority on this one, so if you’ve read it please let me know what you think!

2. Red pick a book with a RED cover.

For this I’m going to pick Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier due to the fact that it’s the only book I’ve read that has red in the title and that is actually red.

3. The Best Day pick a book that makes you feel nostalgic.

Anything by Robert Munsch, but my favourite would probably have to be Love You Forever. I would read his books every night and they would always make me fall asleep.

4. Love Story pick a book with forbidden love.

I’m going to go for The Winners Curse by Marie Rutkoski. I feel like the love between Kestrel and Arin is almost passed the point of forbidden seeing as he is her slave. While reading this I couldn’t help myself from rooting them on even through the rough times.

5. I Knew You Were Trouble pick a book with a bad character you couldn’t help but love.

This was a super hard one but in the end I decided to go with Jace from the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I had to go with Jace because his sense of humor is everything. Also he goes through so much character development through the series.

6. Innocent pick a book that someone ruined the ending for.

The first one that comes to mind Is Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. My sister read it before me and decided it would be fun to spoil it for me. I think that’s probably why its my least favourite book in the series

7. Everything Has Changed pick a character from a book who goes through extensive character development.

For this one I chose Emily from Since you’ve been gone by Morgan Matson. She went from being Soloanes shadow to actually being Emily. She found herself during to book and I loved it.

8. You Belong With Me pick your most anticipated book release.

I’m going with P.S. I like you by Kasie West. Her books are always so cute and leave you smiling so I’m super excited to read this one. It’s expected release is July 2016 but fingers crossed it comes out earlier.

9. Forever and always pick your favorite book couple.

I cant not go with Katy and Daemon from the Lux series (Which is probably my favourite series I’ve ever read) by Jennifer L. Armentrout. This couple is my everything. They honestly act like an old married couple and it is perfect.

10. Come Back, Be Here pick the book you would least like to lend out, for fear of missing it too much.

This is technically multiple books but any book by Stephanie Perkins would be to hard to let anyone borrow. Her writing is just so cute and I love it so much.

Thanks so much for reading

Quick introduction

Hey guys my name’s Hope. If I’m being honest I have no idea how this entire thing works, but I thought I’d try it anyways. One thing you should probably know about be is I really love reading. I mostly read YA but am open to try anything really. Adventure and fantasy are usually my top picks, but I have to admit that lately I’ve been on a bit of a contemporary kick. Ill probably mostly be posting reviews and recommendations but I’m sure that will change after I get into this a bit more. If anyone is actually reading this I would really appreciate any advice on how to run this thing or what you would like to see me post.
